Glasgow Pools Stay Open

Learn to Swim Scotland received some GOOD NEWS today when we were told that Glasgow City Council had decided to keep both Abercorn School and St Bride's Primary School Swimming Pools open at least until June 2013. Unfortunately one of the pools we were hoping to open up in Ashcraig School look like they will lose their pool in April. But for Total Swimming this means we can continue to grow our programme in Abercorn in the City Centre and we will have the opportunity of expanding our lessons into the South of Glasgow with our new programmes in St Brides and Shawlands starting from the 20th February.

"With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games fast approaching, this news is a welcome boost to all learn to swim providers who use these pools as we can continue to teach these children this most important life skill" says Total Swimming's learn to swim manager Adam Riley who goes onto say "I understand that the council needs to cut costs but I couldn't understand why these facilities were targeted as they are constantly full, we have struggled to get pool time so they must be doing something right! With 40-45% of all children leaving schools unable to swim then it is vital that we can keep swimming pools open so everyone has the opportunity to learn to swim, so this news has been most welcome!"
