Salary: £18,000 - £23,000 per annum

Summary of role 

We are looking for an exceptional Total Swimming Academies team member: who will provide a safe environment for learning to swim as well as excellent standards of customer care for swimmers and their families on every visit.

As an experienced Venue Coordinator with a range of skills you should have experience of operating a leisure facility and responsibility for delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will be responsible for operating the facility and managing the completion of the daily, weekly and monthly checklists to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest of standards. You will also be responsible for managing and leading a team of Swimming Teachers, Lifeguards and a maintenance supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the facility including safety checks and recording information on a range of IT systems.

Furthermore, you will work as part of a team to deliver the Total Swimming Academies experience, which will include at times Lifeguarding, Teaching and responsibility for the performance of your venue including meeting KPIs and delivering to the world class standard that TSA expects our customers to experience.

Job Description 

Venue Coordinator Duties

  • Manage a team of Swimming Teachers and Lifeguards
  • Maintain the facility to a high standard ensuring the pool plant is working to its full capacity
  • Use the chemicals provided in line with the manufacturers guidelines and COSHH regulations
  • Carry out basic daily, weekly and monthly checks to ensure smooth operation of the site and immediate surrounding areas, keeping up to date & accurate records
  • Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and report necessary maintenance
  • Complete and record all health and safety checks as assigned on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and proactively anticipate any potential hazards
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations at all times

Lifeguard Duties

  • Provide lifeguard duties for learn to swim lessons for 3-11-year olds, ranging from non-swimmers to competent swimmers
  • Deliver exceptional customer care to every swimmer and family member in and out of the water
  • Ensure the safe provision of all equipment including usage, storage, cleaning and maintenance
  • Help maintain the facility to a high standard at all times by ensuring the entire centre is clean and safe for all users
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development through training, observation and feedback on performance to ensure high standards of delivery
  • Be a positive role model for young people encouraging them to reach their full swimming potential

Swim Teacher Duties

  • Prepare lesson plans and a comprehensive scheme of work that meets the creativity, knowledge and innovation expected
  • Mentor and develop swimming teachers 
  • Attend relevant courses throughout the year in line with the needs of the organisation and support in the co-ordination of teacher training and induction sessions
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with our customers and potential customers, including handling and escalating complaints where appropriate
  • Ensure all concerns of a child safeguarding nature are referred in a timely and appropriate manner, in accordance with company Safeguarding policy
  • Adhere to the Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety procedures, operating procedures, customer service standards and uniform policy at all times
  • Maintain own mandatory qualifications, licensing and CPD/ training requirements

Person Specification & Qualifications 


  • Previous experience of delivering and/or coordinating a learn to swim provision is imperative
  • Swimming Teacher Level 2 Qualification
  • Pool plant trained
  • Managerial experience
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and willingness to attend all training to ensure validity of qualification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service focused, demonstrates a determined and committed approach to quality of standards and cleanliness
  • Perseverance and patience to encourage and put people at ease
  • Experience at working both independently and as part of a team
  • A self-confident, solutions focused team player with a can-do attitude
  • Observant, notices customers and anticipates their needs
  • Computer literate, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Passion for swimming


  • First aid at work qualification
  • Defibrillator trained

  • Full UK Driving Licence
