Bridlington Olympic Legacy Pool
In 2014 Total Swimming successfully completed the delivery of the UK's first 25 metre temporary Olympic Legacy swimming pool, in partnership with Sport England and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The temporary pool is situated at Bridlington Sports Centre on Gypsey Road and will remain there for a 2 year period while the redevelopment of Bridlington Leisure World is carried out. This pool is already proving to be a great success and is now providing the local community with the only public use swimming facility in the area. See the video below
The swimming pool was officially launched with support from Olympic Bronze Medallist Jo Jackson, who commented
“As a Yorkshire girl myself, I am thrilled that Bridlington is the first place in the country to get a legacy pool. Having a good nearby swimming pool was invaluable to my training when I was growing up and this pool will offer a fantastic opportunity to people in the area. I hope that having a part of London 2012 in Bridlington will help inspire more people in the area to get in the water.”
Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, the Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council said
"Securing temporary swimming provision, so that no service is lost while the new multipurpose leisure facility is constructed, was important to the council and we are delighted to have arranged this in partnership with Sport England, and that it has been so well received by the people of Bridlington.
The fully heated deck level 25 metre x 10 metre swimming pool has been built within a temporary building attached to an existing council sports facility, with the project designed to create a seamless customer journey from the main entrance of the centre, through the main building and into the pool hall.
