Speedo Fastskin
When the Speedo Fastskin was released many years ago people never realised it could evolve into something much better. The Speedo Fastskin FSII is the next generation Speedo Fastskin and is thought to be so much better.
Speedo has always strived to produce a product the enables swimmers to glide through water with easy enabling them to perform to the best of their ability and what better place to start than looking at the creatures which do it so effortlessly, the shark.
By looking at the skin of the shark and how it reacts in the water led to the discovery that the skin of a shark varies right across its body. Taking this into consideration Speedo have created a new swimsuit, the new Speedo Fastskin which uses different fabrics for different body parts to enable the swimmer to travel through the water just like a shark.
The Speedo Fastskin FSII
When creating the Speedo Fastskin FSII, attention to detail has been at the top of the agenda. By choosing a fabric with surface characteristics which mimic the rough shark denticles the new Speedo Fastskin FSII will reduce drag when swimming along key areas of the body. The fabric used for this Speedo Fastskin actually compresses the body which in turn stops the skin from vibrating and prevents muscle oscillation. By doing this the Speedo Fastskin FSII saves energy and therefore reduces drag.
For the first time ever, Speedo have created two totally different Speedo Fastskins, one for men and another for women.
The Male Speedo Fastskin FSII
By studying the male body shape Speedo decided the male Speedo Fastskin uses the 'Fastskin' fabric in all the panels except the underarm panel. In the underarm panel 'Flexskin' is used as it allows freedom of movement, something which is essential when trying to glide through the water.
The Female Speedo Fastskin FSII
As you will have guessed it has been discovered that the male and female form need different shaped suits to enable them to perform to the best of their ability.. The new female Speedo Fastskin uses 'Flexskin' in the side panels as the tests carried out proved that this combination gave the fastest result.
The Total Swimming Shop currently stocks a number of different Speedo Fastskins as part of the mens swimwear and women's swimwear lines. The Total Swimming Shop will also be adding to their Speedo Fastkin range with the Speedo Lazer Fastskin FS Pro coming in May 2008.
