Total Swimming British Olympic Picks

Rebecca Adlington - she is ranked number 1 in the world with two Americans breathing down her neck. It could be really tight but the 19 year old looks a good bet for a great swim. She's also in with a shout in the 400m free after a great swim at the Nationals in Liverpool and the 4x200m freestyle team is looking really strong! Go Rebecca!

Jo Jackson - Jo is always a good bet to make finals, one of our most consistent swimmers. She's in the 4x200m free team and has an outside chance of getting near the medals in the 400m free as well! She's in good form too after breaking the British Record on the 200m free last month.

Fran Halsall - the speedy Liverpool lass will be one of the busiest swimmers in the pool with five events in her programme. We reckon she's good bet for the finals and could even win a medal in the relay.

Liam Tancock - he broke the world record in the 50m backstroke this year and was preselected for the games after winning medals at the World Championships last year. We're quietly confident he'll do well in Beijing.

James Goddard - he was 4th in the 200m back four years ago and everyone would love to see him go at least one better this year. James has a knack of getting it right for the big events!

David Davies - bronze medallist four years ago. Competition looks tough in the 1500m this year, but Enduro has two chances of a medal this time as he does the 10k open water event as well.

Jemma Lowe - butterfly queen is right near the top of the world rankings. Her consistency should see her through to the finals and anything can happen once you get there!

Chris Cook - we thought he looked pretty awesome at the Nationals and Britain has a habit of winning medals on the men's 100m breast stroke after David Wilkie in 1976, Duncan Goodhew in 1980 and Adrian Moorehouse in 1988. Come on Cookie, it's about time we had another champ! Kris Gilchrest is also our hope in the 200m.

Kirsty Balfour - perhaps Kirsty can win a breast stroke medal for the women this year - the last one we won was Anita Lonsborough in 1960! Kirsty was Britain's top swimmer last year after winning medals at the World Championships.

Hannah Miley - a real tough Cookie, she's not afraid to take anyone on and we think she could make a few waves during her medley events at her first Olympics.

In fact, the team is so strong that we could mention everyone! The relay teams are great this year and there are some really exciting juniors in the team. All in all we can't wait... now where are those match sticks to make sure we stay awake for the 2am finals...?!!
