Paralympics

The success of the Olympics spilled over into the Paralympics as our swimmers boosted the overall medal count to Britain's highest ever across all sports. What was really encouraging was the young talent coming through, such as 13 year old Eleanor Simmonds and 17 year old Sam Hynd.

Sam trains at the same club as Rebecca Adlington, and training with the best able bodied swimmers in the area has helped him to become on of the best Paralympic swimmers in the world. His 400m freestyle win was also a world record!

You can read more about him in the Sun newspaper and our athlete interview this month. Link to the Sun - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/article1684994.ece.

Welshman David Roberts collected four gold medals in Beijing in the S8 category. He has cerebral palsy, which affects one side of his body but has produced amazing times in the water which have helped him win 11 Paralympic golds in total and becoming the joint most successful British Paralympian ever with Tanni Grey-Thompson.
