Olympic Trials

Enduro (David Davies) and Cyclone (Liam Tancock) were already preselected for the Olympic team, along with breaststoke ace Kirsty Balfour. For everyone else it was a nail biting route through evening heats and challenging morning finals to book a place to Beijing.

37 Swimmers have booked their places on the team. Fran Halsall, who celebrated her 18th birthday at the World Short Course Championships, will be one of the busiest swimmers having been selected to take part in five events.

Rebecca Adlington will have one of the toughest programmes of events. She'll do 4 events, and they're distant events! She ranked number 1 in the world at the moment, but the speedy Americans still have their trials to come. Expect some blistering backstroke record timesfrom them at the end of June/July.

There's some exciting juniors in the Olympic team, but also respect to some of our senior swimmers. Chris 'Cookie Monster' Cook became the first British man to swim under 60 seconds for 100m breast stroke, Gregorr Tait swam some blistering backstroke record times at the ages of 29, Mark Foster made the team at the ages of 37 (shhhh, don't tell anyone but he will be 38 by the time he gets to the games!!)

It's too early to start predicting medals, but the team is looking in really good shape to challenge the rest of the world!
