17 year old Lizzie Simmonds is heading for Beijing after great swims in the 100m and 200m backstroke at the Trials. It's been a busy time for the teenager, who won gold at the European Championships in Eindhoven before the trials, and has been breaking records at World Short Course after the Trials. We think she might need a little rest, but then it's time for some more hard work before the Olympics!
We caught up with her before she went to the Europeans to see what a typical week in the life of one of Britain's hottest swimming prospects is really like….
Sunday: A normal pool session followed by the gym. Feeling pretty tired - have swum 65,000m this week!
Monday: Went to Loughborough first thing for an early training session. Got suited up for a time trial (200m backstroke). Did another pool session in the afternoon in Lincoln - the Lincolnshire Echo came to take some photos of me!
Tuesday: Had a speed set to do - Mark, my coach, gave me a real challenge and I was rewarded with 2 milkshakes!
Wednesday: Did a big pool set today at Loughborough and saw the physio for a niggling problem I have with my shoulder.
Thursday: It was Mark's birthday today - had a grotty set in the pool! Made an experimental chocolate cake in the evening with no sugar or fat - it wasn't very nice so we smothered it with hot fudge and cream!!
Friday: My big brother came home from uni today - yeah! It's so nice to see him.
Saturday: Went to an ASA event with Sarah Price where we ran a mini gala for 250 kids - it was great fun!
Sunday: My day off! The first one for ages… I went to town and did some well deserved shopping!
