Two Make a Splash Mobile Pools Open This Week!

Total Swimming this week opens two more mobile pools projects as part of the Mayor of London Boris Johnson's Make a Splash programme.

The two pools will open at schools in the London boroughs of Brent and Merton.

Make a Splash is part of PlaySport London, one of the Mayor of London's key Olympic legacy programmes for sport. This is designed to ensure a lasting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the aim of ensuring Londoners benefit from inspirational projects that significantly increase participation in sport and physical activity, as well as using sport to tackle social issues.

Between 2011 and 2013, Total Swimming will deliver 12 Make a Splash projects in boroughs across London.

The projects will be delivered at Preston Park Primary School in Brent and the Harris Academy Merton in Merton.

Over the course of 12 weeks, school swimming lessons will be delivered on weekdays. During weekday evenings and on Saturdays mornings, the pools will be open for the local communities in each area to use. There will also be special programmes during the school half term holidays. These sessions are price at just £2 each, with a range of activities available, including swimming lessons for children and adults.

More information is available on the Make a Splash website, including details of the timetables for the community programmes at Brent and Merton. You can also follow Make a Splash on Twitter @makeasplash2012.
