Adrian Turner and Hornsby House Kids Welcome Olympic Torch to Wandsworth

Last week Olympian Adrian Turner of Total Swimming’s Make A Splash programme visited Hornsby House Primary school in Wandsworth to celebrate the arrival of the official London 2012 Olympic torch.

The Head of PE at Hornsby House Mr Mark Peters said that the presence of the torch at their school was “an amazing, inspirational moment for the kids of the school. To be able to touch the very Olympic torch that will light the flame at this year’s Games made the whole experience very real for them. We hope that tangible reality of the Games will stay with the Hornsby kids and inspire them in their own sporting ambitions.”

Turner, who competed for Great Britain at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens said “What a truly lovely moment for the school – and for me! Even as an Olympian there are very few opportunities to get to hold THE Olympic torch. And the fact that this is the torch for our own Games in Great Britain is an even more remarkable thrill. I want to keep it!”

The Olympic torch will continue to tour the country ahead of the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony on Friday 27th July.
