FAQs?

Why teach my baby to swim?
Water confidence is a crucial lifesaving skill. Kids are less
fearful in the water at a young age, which makes them easier to
teach than older children. Babies tend to have a natural affinity
in the water and therefore learning these skills from a young age
are more likely to have a respect for the water which in turn could
save their life.
How old should my baby be?
This programme can followed from 4 months upwards.
What if my baby doesn't like the water?
Take it slowly and build up their confidence. It's a gradual
process but in time they will learn to love the water.
What should my baby wear in the water?
This is dependant on whether you are following the Top Tips cards
in the swimming pool or the bath. If the child is at one of our
centres at a swimming pool all children must wear special swimming
nappies (which are widely available). Please do not use a normal
nappy as this will leak and disintegrate in the water.
If you are following the programme at home what the child wears is entirely at the parents disgression. Remember, wherever you are - HAVE FUN!
Does my baby have to be fully immunised?
This is entirely up to you. Please check out the http://www.immunisations.org.uk/
for further information.
Do I have to be able to swim to follow this
programme?
No, all courses will be done in shallow water in which parents will
easily be able to stand. Alternatively, if you do not wish to get
into the swimming pool why not follow the scheme through in the
bath with your child.
