Cheshire Swim Club Celebrates Award with Michael Rock and Total Swimming
Monday 09 January 2012 at 16:21Olympic hopeful Michael Rock was on hand at the City Baths in Chester last Saturday as part of a Total Swimming Aquateers event to celebrate Chester Swimming Club's success in achieving an award from the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).
The event was specially commissioned in recognition of the club gaining the 'swim21' quaity mark, which is issue by the ASA to clubs that provide safe, effective and quality services.
The award was presented by Chester MP Stephen Mosley, with the event led by Michael Rock, who is the only man to beat Olympic legend Michael Phelps in 10 years. Rock is also a Commonwealth silver medalist in the 200 metre butterfly, and competed for Great Britain at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
During the event, swimmers at the club benefitted from underwater filming to help improve their technique, with two sessions in the pool and also an inspiring motivational talk.
Chester Swimming Chief coach, Lee Holland, said: “This is the biggest event our club has staged.”
A range of Aquateers events are available and delivered by Total Swimming, with these events specifically aimed at swimming clubs aiming to help their swimmers improve.
